2014 ACC Football Schedule Announced

By Kevin Kelley -

The 2014 ACC Football Schedule was officially announced today. Conference play begins on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 1) when the Miami Hurricanes travel to face the Louisville Cardinals.

The Louisville Cardinals are a new member in the ACC beginning with the 2014 season and they will compete in the Atlantic Division. Louisville takes the place of Maryland, which is leaving for the Big Ten Conference.

Featured 2014 non-conference match-ups include USC at Boston College, Clemson at Georgia, Kansas at Duke, Florida State vs. Oklahoma State (at Arlington, TX), Notre Dame at Florida State, Georgia Tech at Georgia, Louisville at Notre Dame, Miami (FL) at Nebraska, NC State at USF, North Carolina at Notre Dame, Iowa at Pittsburgh, Syracuse vs. Notre Dame (at E. Rutherford, NJ), UCLA at Virginia, Virginia Tech at Ohio State, and Wake Forest at Utah State.

“This is an exciting time in ACC Football, and as we look ahead to the 2014 season, it’s clear that our teams have once again combined for a strong lineup of nonconference opponents, along with our competitive league schedule,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “In addition to the overall schedule and season, we look forward to welcoming Louisville into the ACC and beginning our annual scheduling agreement with Notre Dame.”

The ACC will have five games nationally-televised by ESPN on Thursday nights: Virginia Tech at Pitt (Oct. 16), Miami at Virginia Tech (Oct. 23), Florida State at Louisville (Oct. 30), Clemson at Wake Forest (Nov. 6) and North Carolina at Duke (Nov. 20).

There will also be three nationally televised games on Friday night: Pitt at Boston College (Sept. 5, ESPN or ESPN2), Louisville at Syracuse (Oct. 3, ESPN or ESPN2) and Virginia at Virginia Tech (Thanksgiving Friday, Nov. 28).

The 2014 ACC Championship Game will be on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Exciting to see the Kentucky-Louisville in-state rivalry move to rivalry weekend after Thanksgiving and join the other in-state ACC-SEC matchups that weekend.

I look forward to Wake Forest at Utah State and Virginia at BYU as well. Solid schedules all around for a pretty good conference.
