The UMass Minutemen will host the Maine Black Bears in 2013, according to a report by the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
According to the agreement, UMass will host Maine at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Sept. 7, 2013.
The two schools first met in 1909 and have played every season since 1958. UMass leads the overall series 41-16-1.
If the contest becomes official, it will complete UMass’ non-conference schedule for the 2013 season. The Minutemen are scheduled to open the season at Wisconsin (Aug. 31), travel to Kansas State (Sept. 14), and host Vanderbilt (Sept. 21).
The 2012 season will be the first for UMass in the Football Bowl Subdivision. They will play a full MAC schedule in 2012 and will be eligible for the MAC Championship Game and bowls beginning with the 2013 season.
