The NC State Wolfpack have moved their 2027 home matchup against the North Carolina A&T Aggies to the season opener, FBSchedules.com has learned.
NC State had originally been slated to host North Carolina A&T on September 11, 2027, a date first announced in 2022.
According to an amendment to the game contract obtained from North Carolina A&T State University via a state open‑records request, the matchup has been shifted forward and will now be played on August 28, 2027, at Carter–Finley Stadium in Raleigh, N.C.
The adjustment follows the NCAA’s June decision to implement a uniform 14‑week regular season beginning in 2027. Under the new model, FBS programs may begin most seasons during what is currently known as Week Zero—the weekend before Labor Day—which will become the standard Week 1.
The 2027 contest will be the first-ever meeting between NC State and North Carolina A&T. NC State will pay North Carolina A&T a $500,000 guarantee for the game, per the contract amendment.
NC State’s remaining non‑conference slate in 2027 includes home games against Kansas State on Sept. 25 and Louisiana Tech on Oct. 2.
North Carolina A&T, meanwhile, is scheduled to visit Chicago State on Sept. 18. The Aggies had also been set to face North Carolina Central in the Duke’s Mayo Classic in Charlotte on August 28. With the NC State game now occupying that date, the status of the Duke’s Mayo Classic matchup is unclear.
