Notre Dame announces 2022 football schedule

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have finalized their 2022 football schedule, the school announced on Tuesday.

Notre Dame is scheduled to open the 2022 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Fighting Irish then host consecutive games at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind. The Marshall Thundering Herd visit on Sept. 10, followed by the California Golden Bears on Sept. 17.

Notre Dame then heads out for their first ACC tilt of the season against the North Carolina Tar Heels on Sept. 24. Their only open date of the season follows on Oct. 1.

On Oct. 8, Notre Dame will play their annual Shamrock Series game against the BYU Cougars at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Next, Notre Dame returns to South Bend to host back-to-back games against the Stanford Cardinal on Oct. 15 and the UNLV Rebels on Oct. 22. The Irish close out the month of October on the road against the Syracuse Orange on Oct. 29.

The Clemson Tigers are set to visit Notre Dame Stadium on Nov. 5, one week before the Fighting Irish take on the Navy Midshipmen at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md. (Nov. 12). That’s followed by Notre Dame’s final home game of the season on Nov. 19 against the Boston College Eagles.

Notre Dame closes out the 2022 regular-season with a trip to take on the USC Trojans at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Nov. 26.

The 2022 season will be the first for Notre Dame under new head coach Marcus Freeman. Freeman was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach this season and ascended to the head position after Brian Kelly left for LSU.
