The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will open the 2024 season against the North Carolina A&T Aggies, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the football game contract with Wake Forest University, dated March 31, 2017, was obtained from North Carolina A&T University via a state public records request.
Wake Forest will host North Carolina A&T at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 (or Aug. 29-30). The Demon Deacons will pay the Aggies a $325,000 guarantee for playing the game, according to the copy of the contract.
In their first and only meeting on the gridiron on Sept. 18, 2004, Wake Forest defeated North Carolina A&T 42-3 in Winston-Salem.
North Carolina A&T, a historically black college and university (HBCU), is located in Greensboro, N.C., about 36 miles away from Wake Forest. The Aggies currently compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Association (MEAC), but are moving to the Big South Conference beginning with the 2021 season.
With the addition of the North Carolina A&T Aggies, Wake Forest now has three known non-conference opponents for the 2024 season. The Demon Deacons are also scheduled to host Ole Miss on Sept. 14 and travel to take on Army on Nov. 16.
In ACC play in 2024, Wake Forest is scheduled to host Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse and play at Duke, Florida State, Louisville, and NC State.
Wake Forest is the second scheduled non-conference opponent for North Carolina A&T in 2024. The Aggies are also scheduled to travel to Elon on Sept. 14.
