The Toledo Rockets have scheduled home-and-home football series against Arkansas State and Fresno State, UT Athletic Director Mike O’Brien announced today.
Toledo will host Arkansas State at the Glass Bowl on Sept. 26, 2015. The Rockets will then make their first ever trip to Liberty Bank Stadium in Jonesboro on Sept. 3, 2016. Toledo leads the series against ASU 2-0 after wins in 1990 and 1992.
The Rockets will also play the Fresno State Bulldogs in a home-and-home series in 2016 and 2018. Toledo hosts Fresno on Oct. 1, 2016 and then makes the trip to Bulldog Stadium on Sept. 15, 2018.
Fresno State leads the series against Toledo 2-0 after winning both games of a home-and-home series in 2005 and 2008.
“We are very pleased to add Arkansas State and Fresno State to our future football schedules,” said O’Brien. “Both programs are very accomplished and have had outstanding football teams in recent years. We look forward to exciting and competitive series with both schools.”
With the addition of these four games, Toledo has nearly completed their non-conference schedules through 2018. The Rockets are complete in 2014, need two games in 2015, and one each in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Fresno State also officially announced the series vs. Toledo today plus a home contest against Sacramento State on Sept. 10, 2016. The Bulldogs have now completed their non-conference schedules through the 2016 season.
The Bulldogs do play a road conference game at Hawaii in 2015, so they can add an additional non-conference game that season under the Hawaii Exemption.
