Toledo and BYU will meet in 2016 and 2019, the Rockets’ athletic department announced today.
The 2016 contest at BYU will close out Toledo’s non-conference schedule. That game will be played Friday, September 30 in Provo. The 2019 matchup will be played in Toledo on Saturday, September 28.
“We are very pleased to add the series with BYU to our football schedule,” said Toledo VP and athletics director Mike O’Brien in the release. “BYU has an excellent football tradition and will be a very attractive opponent on our 2019 home schedule. We also look forward to making the trip to Provo, Utah next season.”
The schools have never faced each other on the gridiron.
Toledo also announced the addition of FCS opponents Maine (Sept. 10, 2016) and Elon (Aug. 31, 2017) to their schedule.
In addition, Toledo announced that three previously scheduled games have changed dates. Their 2016 game at Tulsa was moved to Sept. 5, 2020, while a series with Fresno State is now set for Sept. 17, 2016 at home and Sept. 29, 2018 at Fresno.
