The Portland State Vikings have added games against the Washington State Cougars and the North Dakota Fighting Hawks to their future football schedules, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Copies of contracts for games against Washington State and North Dakota were obtained from Portland State University via a state public records request.
Portland State will travel to take on Washington State at Martin Stadium in Pullman on Aug. 31, 2024. The Vikings will receive a $562,500 guarantee for the game, according to the copy of the contract.
Portland State and Washington State first met on the gridiron in 2008 and the Cougars lead the series 2-1. In their most recent matchup in 2015, the Vikings upset the Cougars 24-17.
The two schools are also scheduled to meet in Pullman on Sept. 11, 2021, which was previously announced. Portland State will receive a $525,000 guarantee for that contest.
Washington State is the first known non-conference opponent for Portland State for the 2024 season.
Wazzu now has two non-conference opponents set for their 2024 slate. After host Portland State, the Cougars are scheduled to play at San Diego State on Sept. 7.
Portland State and North Dakota have scheduled a home-and-home series for 2020 and 2025. The series will begin at Hillsboro Stadium on Oct. 24, 2020 and will conclude five seasons later at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Sept. 6, 2025.
In eight previous meetings, Portland State is 2-6 against North Dakota. The Fighting Hawks have won four consecutive games in the series dating back to 2014.
North Dakota is currently playing as an FCS Independent, but is playing a full schedule of Big Sky Conference opponents. The Fighting Hawks will officially join the Missouri Valley Conference in 2020.
Portland State now has all three non-conference opponents for the 2020 season lined up. The Vikings are slated to play at Arizona (Sept. 5) and at Oregon State (Sept. 19) in addition to hosting North Dakota.
The Fighting Hawks are the first non-conference opponent scheduled for the Vikings for the 2025 season.
North Dakota now has two non-conference opponents scheduled for 2020. The Fighting Hawks are also scheduled to play at Kansas State on Sept. 12 that season.
Portland State is the third non-conference opponent for North Dakota’s 2025 schedule. Also on their schedule that season are games at Missouri (Aug. 30) and at Montana (Sept. 13).
