The Ole Miss Rebels and Southeast Missouri Redhawks have moved the date of their 2029 football matchup, FBSchedules.com has learned.
The game was originally slated for September 15, 2029, at Vaught‑Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss., as we first reported in 2024. According to an amendment to the game contract obtained from the University of Mississippi via a state open records request, the contest has been shifted forward and will now be played on August 25, 2029.
The adjustment aligns with the NCAA’s June decision to implement a uniform 14‑week regular season beginning in 2027. Under the new model, FBS programs may open most seasons during what is currently known as Week Zero—the weekend before Labor Day—which will become the standard Week 1.
Ole Miss and Southeast Missouri have met three times in a series that began in 1907. The Rebels won the most recent matchup in 2013, 31–13, taking a 2–1 lead in the all‑time series.
In other non‑conference action in 2029, Ole Miss is scheduled to visit South Alabama on Sept. 29.
The SEC has already announced each school’s league opponents for 2029. Ole Miss is set to host Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas A&M, while traveling to Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, and South Carolina.
With five SEC road games that season, Ole Miss’ previously mentioned non‑conference trip to South Alabama is likely to be canceled, as most Power conference programs aim to secure at least seven home games annually.
Southeast Missouri’s 2029 non‑league slate currently includes two additional announced road contests: at North Alabama on Sept. 1 and at West Georgia on Sept. 22.
