The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders have added the Eastern Kentucky Colonels to their 2028 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned. A copy of the game contract was obtained from Middle Tennessee State University via a state public records request.

Middle Tennessee will host Eastern Kentucky at Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on September 2, 2028. The Colonels will receive a $325,000 guarantee following the game, according to the agreement.

Eastern Kentucky, a member of the United Athletic Conference (UAC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), holds a 29–19 lead in the all‑time series and has won the last six meetings. The most recent matchup came in 1998, a 28–24 EKU victory in Murfreesboro.

Middle Tennessee had previously been slated to host Chattanooga on Sept. 2, 2028, but that contest has been moved to Sept. 4, 2032, per a contract amendment obtained by FBSchedules.com. The game was likely rescheduled due to Chattanooga adding a contest against the Tennessee Volunteers for the same season.

In other non‑conference action in 2028, the Blue Raiders are scheduled to visit Southern Miss on Sept. 16 and host South Alabama on Sept. 23, with one additional opening remaining.

Eastern Kentucky’s 2028 non‑conference slate now includes four games. The Colonels open at home against Western Carolina on August 26, travel to Cincinnati on Sept. 9, and host Tennessee Tech on Sept. 23.
