The Montana State Bobcats have added the Drake Bulldogs to their 2021 football schedule, according to their official athletics website.
Montana State will host Drake at Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman, Mont., on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The game will mark the fourth overall meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
In their first meeting on the football field back in 1940, Montana State traveled to Drake and lost 54-0. The Bobcats won the next two meetings in the series, 48-21 in 2010 at home and 34-24 in 2012 on the road.
Montana State is a member of the Big Sky Conference, while Drake competes in the Pioneer Football League, both in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
The addition of Drake completes Montana State’s football schedule for the fall 2021 season. The Bobcats also have non-conference contests scheduled on the road at Wyoming on Sept. 4 and at home against San Diego on Sept. 11.
In Big Sky Conference action next fall, Montana State is scheduled to host Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, UC Davis, and Montana and travel to Southern Utah, Sacramento State, Idaho, and Northern Colorado.
Drake now has two non-conference opponents set for their 2021 schedule. The Bulldogs are also scheduled to play at North Dakota on Sept. 18 that season.
Both Montana State and Drake has their fall 2020 football seasons postponed due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Both conferences should play their 2020 seasons in the spring, although no details have been announced yet.
