The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns have added the Texas Southern Tigers to their 2019 football schedule, the official website of the Ragin’ Cajuns indicates.
Louisiana will host Texas Southern at Cajun Field in Lafayette on Sept. 14, 2019. The contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
The Texas Southern Tigers compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). They wrapped up the 2018 season 1-7 in conference play and 2-9 overall.
Louisiana’s 2019 non-conference football schedule is now tentatively complete with the addition of Texas Southern. The Ragin’ Cajuns are scheduled to open the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Mississippi State at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Other non-conference opponents for Louisiana in 2019 include Liberty at home in Lafayette (Sept. 7) and Ohio on the road (Sept. 21).
In Sun Belt action, Louisiana is scheduled to host Appalachian State, Texas State, Troy, and ULM and travel to Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, and South Alabama.
Louisiana is the third scheduled non-conference opponent for Texas Southern in 2019. The Tigers are also slated to play at Incarnate Word on Sept. 7 and at Houston Baptist on Sept. 28.
