With announcements of canceled Power conference football series surfacing in waves, one future matchup not only remains intact — its second game will now be played far earlier than originally planned.
Kansas State and NC State agreed in 2024 to a home-and-home series beginning next season on September 25, 2027, at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, N.C. The return game was initially scheduled for September 18, 2032, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kan.
A contract amendment obtained from Kansas State University through an open records request shows the schools have moved that 2032 contest up by four seasons. The rematch is now set for September 16, 2028 in Manhattan.
Next year’s meeting will be just the second all-time between the Wildcats and Wolfpack. Their first came in the 2023 Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando, Fla., where Kansas State earned a 28–19 victory.
With the shift, Kansas State now has two nonconference opponents on its 2028 slate: the home date with NC State joins a previously scheduled matchup with Texas State on September 2.
NC State’s 2028 non-league schedule currently features three road games — at East Carolina on September 2, at Texas State on September 16, and at Appalachian State on September 30 — though further adjustments are expected.
Kansas State is 3-1 overall and 0-1 in Big 12 action this season. The Wildcats are off this weekend before welcoming Houston to Manhattan on Saturday, October 10.
NC State is 2-2 on the season (0-1 ACC). The Wolfpack are next slated to host Louisville in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday, October 3 (3:30pm ET, ACCN).
