The James Madison Dukes have added the Louisville Cardinals and Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to their future schedules and have also rescheduled two contests, according to an announcement on Monday.
James Madison will travel to take on Louisville at L&N Stadium in Louisville, Ky., on Sept. 6, 2025. In their first and only gridiron meeting, the Dukes fell to the Cardinals, 34-10, in Louisville in 2022.
As a result of scheduling the game at Louisville, James Madison has pushed back their contest at the Virginia Tech Hokies that was previously scheduled for Sept. 20, 2025. The game will now be played one season later on Sept. 26, 2026 in Blacksburg, Va.
With James Madison’s game at Virginia Tech moved to Sept. 26, 2026, the Dukes have rescheduled their home game against the Miami RedHawks that was slated for the same date. The Dukes will now host the RedHawks at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Va., on Sept. 20, 2031.
James Madison has also announced they will host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles of the Big South-OVC Football Association on Aug. 30, 2025 in Harrisonburg. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
James Madison is 7-0 overall and 4-0 in Sun Belt Conference action this season. The Dukes are ranked 25th in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll this week, which is the first time they have been ranked in both polls simultaneously.
UPDATE (NOV. 6, 2023)
James Madison will receive a $1 million guarantee for its game at Louisville in 2025, according to a copy of the contract we obtained from the University of Louisville via a state open records request.
