The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones have extended their football series through the 2025 season, the two schools announced on Monday.
The Iowa-Iowa State series began in 1894 and has been played each season since 1977. Iowa has won four consecutive contests and now leads the overall series, dubbed the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series, 44-22.
According to a copy of the contract extension/amendment obtained via a public records request from the University of Iowa, the two teams will meet in Iowa City on Sept. 7, 2024 and in Ames on Sept. 6, 2025.
Below are future dates for the Iowa-Iowa State series:
- Sept. 14, 2019 – at Iowa State
- Sept. 12, 2020 – at Iowa
- Sept. 11, 2021 – at Iowa State
- Sept. 10, 2022 – at Iowa
- Sept. 9, 2023 – at Iowa State
- Sept. 7, 2024 – at Iowa
- Sept. 6, 2025 – at Iowa State
Iowa opens the 2019 season on Saturday, August 31 at home against the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks. Iowa State opens the season on the same day at home against the Northern Iowa Panthers.
