The Georgia State Panthers have added the Wisconsin Badgers to their 2016 football schedule, according to a copy of the contract obtained by FBSchedules.com from GSU.

Georgia State will travel to face Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison on Sept. 17, 2016. Wisconsin will pay the Panthers a $1.2 million guarantee and there will be an $800,000 fee if either team cancels the contest without mutual consent.

The addition of Wisconsin gives the Georgia State Panthers two non-conference games on their 2016 schedule. GSU is also scheduled to visit Air Force on Sept. 10, which is the second game of a home-and-home series that begins in 2014.

Wisconsin now has two of their three non-conference games scheduled for the 2016 season. The Badgers are slated to open the 2016 season against LSU at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, although the game hasn’t officially been announced by either school.

The Lambeau Field match-up is part of a two-game neutral site series between Wisconsin and LSU. The first game has been officially announced and will take place at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas on Aug. 30, 2014.

Wisconsin’s Big Ten slate for 2016 was announced in July and will be the first season with the new nine-game conference schedule. The Badgers will host Ohio State, Nebraska, Illinois, and Minnesota and will travel to Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Northwestern, and Purdue.

Georgia State to Cancel Chattanooga in 2014

Georgia State is currently in the process of canceling their game at Chattanooga in 2014, according to documents we obtained. GSU is waiting for UTC to confirm that the game is off. The two schools were scheduled to meet on Sept. 6.

Per the contract that was signed in 2010, there will be no cancellation fee since Georgia State moved up to the FBS from the FCS. The cancellation isn’t much of a surprise since FBS schools rarely travel to play at FCS programs.

Georgia State will replace Chattanooga with a home game against Abilene Christian on their 2014 football schedule. A date for that game was not indicated, but it will likely be Sept. 6.
