The Florida State Seminoles will host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in 2021 and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in 2023, the schools announced on Tuesday.

Florida State will host Jacksonville State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla., on Sept. 11, 2021. The game will mark the third overall meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.

Jacksonville State is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Gamecocks have won one national championship and 22 conference championship in their history.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add this game to our schedule in 2021,” Jacksonville State Athletics Director Greg Seitz said. “We are thankful to Florida State for the opportunity to put one of the nation’s top programs back on our schedule and for giving us the opportunity to showcase our program against the highest level. I know our coaches, players and fans will be excited to return to Tallahassee to face the Seminoles.”

The addition of Jacksonville State completes Florida State’s non-conference schedule for the 2021 season. FSU opens the season at home against Notre Dame on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 6) and later hosts UMass (Oct. 23) before closing the season at in-state rival Florida (Nov. 27).

Jacksonville State has tentatively completed their non-conference schedule for 2021 with the addition of FSU. The Gamecocks are slated to host North Alabama and travel to Eastern Washington on dates to be announced.

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will travel to take on Florida State in Tallahassee on Sept. 9, 2023. It will be Southern Miss’ first appearance in Doak Campbell Stadium since 1996.

Florida State and Southern Miss first met on the gridiron in 1952 and have played a total of 23 contests. In their most recent meeting in the 2017 Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., Florida State defeated Southern Miss 42-13 to extend their series lead to 14-8-1.

Southern Miss is the third announced non-conference opponent for Florida State in 2023. FSU will open the season against LSU in Orlando on Sunday, Sept. 3, which was announced earlier today, and the Seminoles will close the season at Florida (Nov. 25).

In addition to Florida State, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles have games scheduled in 2023 at home against Tulane on Sept. 16 and at Mississippi State on Nov. 18.
