The Cincinnati Bearcats have made a pair of changes to their 2027 football schedule, canceling a previously scheduled matchup against an FCS opponent and moving a game against a Conference USA program, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Cincinnati was slated to open the 2027 season against the West Georgia Wolves on Sept. 4, 2027, in a matchup that FBSchedules.com first reported in 2023. However, that game has since been canceled and will no longer be played.
According to a copy of the original game agreement obtained by FBSchedules.com, Cincinnati agreed to pay West Georgia a $400,000 guarantee for the contest. The contract also stipulated $400,000 in liquidated damages if either party canceled the game, unless the termination occurred by mutual agreement.
The Bearcats have also adjusted another game on their 2027 non-conference slate. Cincinnati, which was previously scheduled to host Missouri State on Sept. 11, 2027, will now welcome the Bears to Nippert Stadium one week earlier on Sept. 4.
As a result of the changes, Cincinnati now has one open date remaining on its 2027 non-conference schedule. With the season set to begin on Aug. 28, the vacancy will likely be filled by an FCS opponent for that opening weekend.
The Big 12 has already announced each member’s conference opponents for the 2027 season. Cincinnati’s home slate will feature Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU, and West Virginia, while road trips are scheduled to Arizona State, Baylor, Kansas State, and UCF.
West Georgia, meanwhile, now has two openings on its 2027 schedule. The Wolves are currently slated to open the season at Chattanooga on Aug. 28 before traveling to South Alabama on Sept. 11 and hosting Stetson on Sept. 18.

Let's hope that date is filled in with the Victory Bell game.
