Yankee Stadium to host New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 30

The inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl is set for December 30, 2010 at the new Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York. The game will be televised by ESPN.

The Pinstripe Bowl will match the third-place Big East team against the sixth-place Big 12 team. The teams will be ranked and chosen after the BCS selections. The conferences are tied into the bowl for four years, as is the sponsor New Era.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Army Black Knights will meet on November 20, 2010 in the first ever game at Yankee Stadium.

The creation of the New Era Pinstripe Bowl brings the total number of bowl games to 35. That means 70 teams can qualify for a bowl game in the 2010 season.
