The Mountaineers will be playing their inaugural season in the Big 12 after leaving the Big East, a conference which they have competed in since 1991.

West Virginia opens the 2012 season at home on Sept. 1 against in-state rival Marshall. The Mountaineers also have non-conference games scheduled vs. James Madison (Sept. 15; at FedEx Field) and home vs. Maryland (Sept. 22).

After an open date, the Mountaineers host fellow Big 12 newcomer TCU on Nov. 3. West Virginia then plays at Oklahoma State on Nov. 10, hosts Oklahoma on Nov. 17 and travels to Iowa State on Nov. 24.

The Mountaineers close out their inaugural season in the Big 12 on Dec. 1 at home against the Kansas Jayhawks.
