The Virginia Tech Hokies have added the Wofford Terriers to their 2025 football schedule, the school announced on Monday.
Virginia Tech will host Wofford at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Va., on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025. The game will mark only the second gridiron meeting between the two schools following a 27-7 Tech win in Blacksburg in 2022.
The contest against Wofford replaces a previously scheduled home contest against the James Madison Dukes on Virginia Tech’s 2025 football schedule. Virginia Tech has rescheduled that contest against James Madison, which will now take place one season later on Sept. 26, 2026 in Blacksburg.
“We appreciate the James Madison football program’s flexibility in accommodating a new trip to Blacksburg in 2026 and are pleased to welcome Wofford back during the 2025 season,” said Virginia Tech director of athletics, Whit Babcock. “Keeping both home dates on our schedule was a priority and we are eager to continue providing great Lane Stadium experiences to Hokie Nation during the seasons to come.”
Wofford, a member of the Southern Conference, is only the second game against a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent on Virginia Tech’s future non-conference schedules. The Hokies are also slated to host the Virginia Military Institute Keydets on Sept. 5, 2026.
Wofford’s future non-conference slate also features games at South Carolina in 2024, at Clemson in 2027, and at South Carolina again in 2028.
