The Virginia Cavaliers have added the Abilene Christian Wildcats to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Friday.
Virginia will host Abilene Christian at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
The addition of Abilene Christian completes Virginia’s revised 2020 football schedule, which features 10 ACC opponents and only one non-conference contest. Virginia was the last ACC member to add an 11th and final game to their schedule.
Virginia is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 19 on the road against the in-state rival Virginia Tech Hokies. Following an open date on Sept. 26, Virginia travels to take on the top-ranked Clemson Tigers on Oct. 3.
Other road games for Virginia in 2020 include Wake Forest, Miami, and Florida State. The Cavaliers will host NC State, North Carolina, Louisville, Duke, and Boston College.
Abilene Christian, a member of the Southland Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), had their conference scheduled postponed due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Rather than compete this spring, the Wildcats have opted to schedule up to a full non-conference slate.
The Wildcats are scheduled to open the 2020 season on Sept. 19 at UTEP. Abilene Christian is also scheduled to host West Texas A&M, Stephen F. Austin (in Arlington, Texas), Angelo State, and Arizona Christian and will travel to Army and Mercer.
