The Utah Utes at Arizona State Sun Devils football game has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 29, ASU announced on Sunday.

The Utah-Arizona State game, previously scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28, will be played at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. No reason for the one day postponement was noted, but it was likely done to give Arizona State an additional day to overcome their novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) issues.

Due to COVID-19 positive test results and subsequent contact tracing, Arizona State had to cancel their last two football games. The Sun Devils were scheduled to host the California Golden Bears on Saturday Nov. 14 and travel to face the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Arizona State head coach Herm Edwards also tested positive for COVID-19, which was announced on November 13.

“Lia, the girls and I are fine and I will be back quicker than you can say ‘Forks Up!’,” Edwards said in a statement released by Arizona State University last week.

“As I’ve stated many times over, the health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes is absolutely paramount and we will not put them at risk,” Edwards continued. “Our team has worked extremely hard to get to this point, and even played a game last weekend. We will continue to care for our students-athletes and follow all protocols very thoroughly as we prepare for our next game. Our team and coaching staff are disappointed, but we do understand what we are dealing with.”

Arizona State opened the 2020 season on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the USC Trojans. The Sun Devils were narrowly defeated in that contest, 28-27.

Utah is also 0-1 so far this season. Their season-opening game at home against Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 7 was canceled, and then they lost at home against USC, 33-17, on Saturday.
