The ULM Warhawks and the UTEP Miners have scheduled a home-and-home football series beginning in 2020, both schools announced on Tuesday.
In the first game of the series, ULM will host UTEP at Malone Stadium in Monroe, La., on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020. Kickoff for the contest has been set for 8:00pm ET/7:00pm CT.
The second and final game of the home-and-home series will be played at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas, on a date to be determined.
“Given the unique circumstances presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, I couldn’t be happier with the way our final schedule came together,” ULM Athletics Director Scott McDonald said. “The challenges provided new opportunities.
The 2020 contest between ULM and UTEP will mark their first-ever meeting on the gridiron.
“We’re thrilled to begin a home-and-home series with UTEP,” McDonald continued. “It guarantees a fifth home game on the schedule, and it makes a lot of sense from a regional standpoint.”
ULM has now completed their revised 2020 football schedule, which begins with back-to-back trips to play Troy on Sept. 5 and Army on Sept. 12.
“We are looking forward to making the trip to play ULM on Sept. 26,” UTEP head coach Dana Dimel said. “They are an up and coming team in the Sun Belt and are coming off a successful campaign last year. We are excited for the opportunity to play this game and I think it will be a really good test for us as a football team.”
UTEP has also completed their 2020 slate with the addition of ULM. The Miners are scheduled to open the season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at home against Stephen F. Austin.
