The Texas A&M Aggies have added the Texas Southern Tigers to their 2027 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the football game contract with Texas Southern University was obtained from Texas A&M University via a state of Texas Public Information Act request.
Texas A&M will host Texas Southern at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, on Saturday, October 16, 2027. The Aggies will pay the Tigers a $550,000 guarantee for the contest, according to the copy of the contract.
Texas A&M and Texas Southern have never met on the football field, marking the 2027 matchup as the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Texas Southern University, based in Houston, competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) at the FCS level. The Tigers will become only the second SWAC opponent to face Texas A&M, joining Prairie View A&M, which played the Aggies in 2016 and 2021.
With the addition of Texas Southern, Texas A&M now has all three non‑conference opponents set for the 2027 season. The Aggies are scheduled to host Texas State on Sept. 4 and travel to Arizona State on Sept. 11, though dates remain subject to change.
The SEC has already announced each team’s conference opponents for next season. Texas A&M will host Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt, and will travel to Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, and Texas.
Texas Southern now has two non‑conference games on its 2027 slate, with the Tigers also scheduled to visit Tulsa on Sept. 11.
