The Tennessee Volunteers have added the Furman Paladins to their 2020 football schedule, according to UT’s official athletics website.
Tennessee will host Furman at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville on Sept. 19, 2020. The Volunteers will pay the Paladins a $500,000 guarantee, according to a copy of the contract posted to the website.
Furman is a member of the Southern Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). In 2016, the Paladins finished 3-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
Tennessee previously announced that they will open the 2020 season at home against the Charlotte 49ers on Sept. 5. The Vols need two more non-conference games in 2020, and one opponent must be a Power Five school.
In SEC action in 2020, Tennessee is scheduled to host Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, and Alabama and travel to Georgia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas.
