SWAC announces football schedule changes due to Tropical Storm Isaias

The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has announced two football schedule adjustments for this weekend in response to the projected impact of Tropical Storm Isaias.

Alabama State was originally slated to host Florida A&M on Saturday, October 10 at ASU Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. With Isaias expected to affect portions of the Alabama Gulf region and surrounding inland areas, the conference has moved proactively to ensure the game can be played safely.

The Florida A&M–Alabama State matchup has been shifted one day earlier and will now kick off on Friday, Oct. 9 at 12:00pm ET / 11:00am CT. The game will be streamed live on SWAC TV, replacing the previously announced broadcast window.

Additionally, the SWAC has modified the start time for Saturday’s Southern at Prairie View A&M contest. The game, originally scheduled for early afternoon, has been pushed back one hour and will now begin at 4:00pm ET / 3:00pm CT. Broadcast coverage will air on HBCU GO.

Below is the updated weekend schedule (ET):

Friday, Oct. 9
Florida A&M at Alabama St. – 12pm, SWAC TV

Saturday, Oct. 10
Southern at PVAMU – 4pm, HBCU GO

The conference continues to monitor the storm’s trajectory closely. Additional football scheduling updates are possible as Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast and is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane by Thursday morning.
