The Rhode Island Rams have added the Merrimack Warriors to their 2019 football schedule, Rhode Island announced on Tuesday.
Rhode Island will host Merrimack at Meade Stadium in Kingston on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019. The game will mark the second meeting between the two schools following a 42-7 Rhode Island win back in 2006.
Merrimack is currently transitioning from Division II to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Warriors will compete in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and will become a full member during the 2023-24 season.
The addition of Merrimack gives Rhode Island a 12-game schedule for the 2019 season. The Rams were previously scheduled to be off on Nov. 2, but will now host Merrimack that day.
Rhode Island is scheduled to open the 2019 season at the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday, Aug. 31. Other non-conference opponents for Rhode Island in 2019 include Brown (Oct. 5) and Virginia Tech (Oct. 12), both road contests.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, Rhode Island opens Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play at Meade Stadium against the Delaware Blue Hens. Other CAA home games for Rhode Island in 2019 include Stony Brook (Sept. 28), Elon (Oct. 26), and James Madison (Nov. 23).
Rhode Island will travel to face CAA foes New Hampshire (Sept. 21), UAlbany (Oct. 19), William & Mary (Nov. 9), and Maine (Nov. 16).
Rhode Island’s only open date of the 2019 season is scheduled for Sept. 14.
