The Northern Illinois Huskies have announced their 2012 non-conference football schedule which includes seven home games.
Northern Illinois opens the 2012 season on Sept. 1 against the Iowa Hawkeyes at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Huskies are designated as the home team for this game.
The game against Iowa will be the third time in the last six years that NIU has played at Soldier Field. The Huskies played Wisconsin in 2011 (lost 49-7) and Iowa in 2007 (lost 16-3).
On Sept. 8, NIU hosts UT Martin at Huskie Stadium. The Huskies travel to face Army on Sept. 15 before returning home to play their final non-conference game at home against Kansas on Sept. 22.
Northern Illinois’s 2012 MAC slate features home games against Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Toledo and UMass. The Huskies will travel to face Akron, Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan.
