The North Alabama Lions have released their 2020 football schedule, which includes games at Virginia Tech and BYU.

North Alabama’s 2020 slate consists of six Big South Conference contests and five non-conference contests. The Lions will not play Presbyterian in 2020 because the Blue Hose are transitioning to the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League.

North Alabama will open the 2020 season on the road in Macomb, Ill., on Thursday, Sept. 3 against the Western Illinois Leathernecks. The Lions open the home portion of their 2020 schedule the following week on Sept. 12 at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Ala., against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks.

UNA then travels for consecutive road contests at the Chattanooga Mocs on Sept. 19 and the Virginia Tech Hokies on Sept. 26.

After their only open date of the season on Oct. 3, North Alabama kicks off a string of six-consecutive Big South contests against the Kennesaw State Owls on Oct. 10 in Florence.

The Monmouth Hawks visit Braly Municipal Stadium on Oct. 17 before North Alabama travels to play the Charleston Southern Buccaneers on Oct. 24. North Alabama welcomes the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs the following week on Oct. 31 for Homecoming.

North Alabama wraps up their 2020 schedule in November with two-of-three games on the road. The Lions play at the Campbell Camels on Nov. 7, host the Hampton Pirates on Nov. 14, and travel to the BYU Cougars on Nov. 21.

The Lions recently completed their first season in the Big South Conference in 2019, finishing 4-7 overall. North Alabama’s games do not count in the conference standings and they aren’t eligible for the Big South championship or the FCS playoffs until they become a full member of Division I in 2022.
