The Monmouth Hawks have added the Wagner Seahawks and have completed their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Friday.
“We are excited by the challenges that our 2020 schedule presents,” said Monmouth Head Coach Kevin Callahan. “Opening the season with our first ever BIG 10 opponent will be especially challenging, and consecutive road contests against Albany and Maine will certainly test us early. The Big South portion of the schedule will be as difficult as ever as everyone returns several of their key players from 2019.”
Monmouth is scheduled to open the season with three consecutive non-conference road contests — Rutgers on Sept. 5, UAlbany on Sept. 12, and Maine on Sept. 19. The Hawks complete their non-conference slate with home contests at Kessler Stadium in West Long Branch, N.J., against Fordham on Sept. 26 and Wagner on Oct. 3.
The Hawks will play at fellow Big South Conference member North Alabama on Oct. 17, but the game will not count in the league standings. North Alabama is a transitional member and will not be counted until the 2022 season.
Monmouth opens their Big South slate at Kessler Stadium on Oct. 24 when they take on Campbell. The Hawks will also host Charleston Southern on Oct. 31 and Kennesaw State on Nov. 21.
Road conference opponents for Monmouth in 2020 include Hampton on Nov. 7 and Gardner-Webb on Nov. 14.
