The Mississippi State Bulldogs have made some changes to their 2020 non-conference football schedule.
Mississippi State was scheduled to open the 2020 season at home against the Alcorn State Braves on Sept. 5. That game has been pushed back five seasons and will now be played on Sept. 13, 2025, per MSU’s official website.
The Bulldogs will now open the 2020 season at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville against the New Mexico Lobos, which was officially announced earlier on Friday. Mississippi State will pay New Mexico a $1 million guarantee for the game.
The 2020 contest between Mississippi State and New Mexico will mark their first-ever meeting on the football field.
The two middle games on MSU’s 2020 non-conference schedule remain unchanged. Mississippi State will travel to face the NC State Wolfpack on Sept. 12 and will host the Tulane Green Wave two weeks later on Sept. 26.
Mississippi State’s fourth and final non-conference opponent in 2020 is a new addition to their schedule. The Bulldogs will host the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in Starkville on Nov. 21.
Mississippi State and Alabama A&M have never squared off on the gridiron.
Alabama A&M was reportedly set to play at Auburn on Nov. 21, 2020, so that contest has likely been postponed or canceled.
In SEC action in 2020, Mississippi State is scheduled to host Arkansas, Auburn, Missouri, and Texas A&M and travel to face Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, and Ole Miss.
