Last July, the Big Ten announced Maryland’s 2016 and 2017 football schedules. Non-conference games for the Terrapins were also set, but have now seen a few changes.
Maryland was originally scheduled to play a home-and-home series against West Virginia in 2016 and 2017, but it has been pushed back to 2020 and 2021, per The Washington Post.
The Terrapins will now travel to face West Virginia at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown on Sept. 19, 2020 and will host WVU at Byrd Stadium in College Park on Sept. 4, 2021.
Taking the place of West Virginia in 2016 and 2017 are the UCF Knights. Maryland and UCF, previously set to meet in 2020 and 2021, will now square off on Sept. 17, 2016 in Orlando and Sept. 23, 2017 in College Park.
The rest of Maryland’s non-conference schedule remains the same in 2016 and 2017. In 2016, the Terrapins host Howard on Sept. 3 and travel to Florida International on Sept. 10, while in 2017 they visit Texas on Sept. 2 and host Towson on Sept. 9.
The 2014 season will be the first for Maryland in the Big Ten Conference. The Terps open the season on Aug. 30 at home vs. James Madison. Their first Big Ten game is at Indiana on Sept. 27, and their first conference home game is Oct. 4 vs. Ohio State.
