The Maryland Terrapins at Michigan Wolverines football game has been canceled due to COVID-19, it was announced on Wednesday.
The two schools were scheduled to meet at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday, Dec. 5. The game was canceled due to COVID-19 issues at Michigan and will not be rescheduled.
“The decision by our medical professionals to stop practices and cancel this Saturday’s game against Maryland was made with the health, safety and welfare of the student-athletes, coaches and staff as our utmost priority,” said Michigan Director of Athletics Warde Manuel. “We have seen an increase in the number of student-athletes unavailable to compete due to positive (COVID-19) tests and associated contact tracing due to our most recent antigen and PCR testing results.”
Michigan is 2-4 so far this season. The Wolverines’ next scheduled contest is on Saturday, Dec. 12 on the road against the 4th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. The game will be televised by FOX at Noon ET.
Maryland is also slated to return to the gridiron on Saturday, Dec. 12. The Terrapins are slated to host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at Maryland Stadium.
