The Louisville Cardinals and the USF Bulls have scheduled a three-game football series, both schools announced on Friday.

The series will be a two-for-one with two games played in Louisville and one game played in Tampa.

Louisville will host USF at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium on Sept. 24, 2022 and Sept. 19, 2026 and USF will play host to UL at Raymond James Stadium on Sept. 21, 2024.

“We are committed to scheduling quality programs, and we have done that with the addition of USF to our non-conference schedule,” UL interim Director of Athletics Vince Tyra said. “As former conference members, we’ve had some memorable and exciting games, and with the tradition and success sustained by both programs, I’m confident that we can continue that excitement. With the large number of Florida players typically on our roster, it’s great to reward them with a trip back to the Sunshine State.”

USF and Louisville first met on the gridiron in 2003 and then played each season through 2013. UL currently leads the series 6-5.

“The USF and Louisville programs have featured some of the most exciting players in college football over the last few seasons,” USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan said. “We are excited to have Louisville returning to Raymond James Stadium and to add a three-game series with an exciting, top-level opponent with which we share a great deal of history.”

USF Future Schedule Changes

The USF Bulls also announced several changes to future games that were already scheduled:

  • USF has moved their 2021 home game against BYU up two seasons to Oct. 12, 2019. The Bulls will now play at BYU on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021 in the return game of the series.
  • Due to Hurricane Irma, USF’s 2017 home game vs. UMass was postponed. The two schools will now meet in Tampa on Oct. 22, 2022. The Bulls play at UMass in 2018.
  • USF was previously scheduled to host San Jose State in 2020, but has pushed that contest back three seasons to Sept. 9, 2023.
