The Lamar Cardinals will play at the Texas State Bobcats in 2024 and at the North Texas Mean Green in 2025, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Copies of contracts for both contests were obtained from Lamar University via a state of Texas Public Information Act request.
Lamar will travel to take on the Texas State Bobcats on August 31, 2024. Lamar will receive a $310,000 guarantee from Texas State for playing the game, according to the copy of the contract.
Lamar and Texas State first met on the gridiron in 1951 and two schools have played a total of 22 contests. In their most recent meeting in 2011, Texas State defeated Lamar 46-21 to extend their lead in the series to 15-6-1.
Texas State is Lamar’s first non-conference opponent scheduled for the 2024 season.
The Bobcats now have three non-conference opponents for their 2024 schedule. Texas State is also slated to host UTSA on Sept. 7 and Arizona State on Sept. 14.
The Lamar Cardinals will make the trek to Apogee Stadium in Denton, Texas, to take on the North Texas Mean Green on August 30, 2025. The Mean Green will pay the Cardinals a $375,000 guarantee for the game, per the contract copy.
The Lamar-North Texas series also kicked off for the first time in 1951. The Mean Green defeated the Cardinals in their last matchup in 2011, 59-14, and now lead the overall series 5-2.
North Texas is also the first scheduled non-conference opponent for Lamar in 2025.
The Mean Green have tentatively completed their 2025 non-conference schedule with the addition of Lamar. Also scheduled for North Texas are games at Wisconsin (Sept. 6) and at SMU (Sept. 13) and South Alabama (Sept. 27) at home.
