The Iowa State Cyclones and the Utah Utes have canceled their 2011 football game (source). The game was to be played at Utah on Thursday, September 1, 2011.
With both the Pac-10 and the Big 12 adopting nine-game conference schedules starting in 2011, both schools mutually agreed to cancel the game.
The 2011 game was the back end of a home-and-home football series that begins this season. Utah will travel to face Iowa State at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on October 9.
Iowa State will open the 2011 season with back-to-back games at home against Northern Iowa (09/03) and Iowa (09/10) and will travel to Connecticut (09/17). The Northern Iowa game was originally scheduled for September 24 but was moved to the opener when the Utah game was canceled.
As for the Utes, they have a September 17 home date scheduled against Oregon which will become a Pac-10 game. Utah also travels to Boise State on October 1 and Pittsburgh on October 15.
