The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers will meet on the Friday after Thanksgiving in 2011 and 2012, the schools announced yesterday.
Iowa and Nebraska will square off at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Friday, November 25, 2012 and at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City on Friday, November 23, 2012.
The 2011 season will be the first for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the expanded Big Ten. The conference was split into two division named “Legends” and “Leaders.” Both schools are in the Legends division.
Nebraska leads the overall series against Iowa 26-12-3. The two teams last met in 2000 in Lincoln, a 42-13 win for the Cornhuskers.
This will be the first time the two schools have played the day after Thanksgiving. Between 1891 and 1899, Iowa and Nebraska played on Thanksgiving Day.
