The Indiana Hoosiers have added the Jacksonville State Gamecocks to their 2027 football schedule, according to a report from the Indianapolis Star.
According to the report, Indiana will host Jacksonville State at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Ind., during Week 1 of the 2027 season. That places the matchup on Saturday, August 28, though Thursday, Aug. 26 or Friday, Aug. 27 remain possible dates.
Indiana’s addition of Jacksonville State comes shortly after our Tuesday report that the Hoosiers and UMass mutually agreed to cancel their matchup in 2027. Late last month, the two schools agreed to “mutually cancel the agreement,” with no cancellation fee or other payment required by either party.
While Indiana has not provided a specific reason for the scheduling change, it likely relates to the NCAA’s June decision to implement a standardized 14-week regular-season beginning next year. The change moves the start of the college football season up by one week, shifting what was previously known as Week Zero into the standard calendar.
Indiana’s remaining non‑conference games in 2027 include home dates against Kennesaw State on Sept. 4 and FCS Indiana State on Sept. 11.
The Big Ten has already announced each team’s conference opponents for 2027. Indiana will host Iowa, Michigan, Penn State, and Rutgers, and will travel to Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, and USC.
Jacksonville State currently has three non‑conference opponents scheduled for 2027. After opening at Indiana, the Gamecocks will visit UAB on Sept. 11 and host South Alabama on Sept. 25.

Who would've known? Indiana cancelled a game against a Go6 team....... just to replace it with a Go6 team.
Jacksonville St. Kennesaw St. Indiana St. Curt Cignetti doesn't want to play anyone who might conceivably give Indiana a game. Pretty sad.
