The Illinois Fighting Illini will open the 2016 season at the Western Michigan Broncos, MLive.com has reported.
Illinois will travel to face Western Michigan at Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo on September 3, 2016. This is the return game of a home-and-home series that begins on September 1, 2012 at Illinois.
The Fighting Illini lead the overall series against the Broncos 2-1. In their last meeting in 2008, WMU beat Illinois 23-17 in Detroit.
