The Houston Cougars and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs have mutually agreed to cancel their 2013 and 2014 football games, UH assistant athletics director David Bassity confirmed to FBSchedules.com.
Houston was scheduled to host Louisiana Tech on Sept. 7, 2013 and travel to face the Bulldogs on Sept. 13, 2014.
The Cougars further confirmed the cancellation today when they announced that their four non-conference opponents in 2013 are BYU, Rice, Southern, and UTSA.
The two games that were canceled were part of a four-game, home-and-home series that was announced back in March of 2009. Houston won the first game 35-34 in 2011, and Louisiana Tech won the second game 56-49 back in September.
As we mentioned, Houston’s 2013 non-conference schedule now consists of home games vs. BYU (Oct. 19), Rice, and Southern and a game at UTSA (Sept. 28). The Southern game will likely be the season-opener.
Louisiana Tech is now down to three non-conference games. The Bulldogs are slated to open the 2013 season at NC State, travel to Kansas (Sept. 21), and host Army in the Heart of Dallas Kickoff Classic at the Cotton Bowl (Sept. 28).
Both Houston and Louisiana Tech will have new conference homes in 2013. The Cougars are moving from Conference USA to the Big East, while the Bulldogs will leave the WAC for Conference USA.
