The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors have added the Duquesne Dukes to their 2018 football schedule, it was announced on Wednesday.
Hawaii will host Duquesne at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu on Sept. 22, 2018. The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Duquesne is a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) school that competes in the Northeast Conference. In 2015, the Dukes went 8-4 overall and 5-1 in NEC play. Their season ended with a narrow 52-49 loss at William & Mary in the FCS Playoffs.
The addition of Duquesne gives Hawaii five non-conference games for the 2018 season. The Rainbow Warriors and their home opponents are allowed to play an additional game under the Hawaii Exemption, mainly to cover travel costs.
Hawaii is scheduled to open the 2018 season with back-to-back games at home vs. Navy on Sept. 1 and then Rice on Sept. 8.
The Rainbow Warriors hit the road to face Army on Sept. 15 before returning home to host Duquesne. Hawaii’s final non-conference game of the 2018 season is at BYU on Nov. 17.
