Georgia Tech adds Alabama A&M to 2013 football schedule

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have added the Alabama A&M Bulldogs to their 2013 football schedule, the school announced today.

Georgia Tech will host Alabama A&M at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Nov. 23, 2013. It will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

A&M is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the FCS. The Bulldogs finished the 2012 season 7-4 overall and 6-3 in the SWAC.

Georgia Tech opens the 2013 season against FCS school Elon on Aug. 31. Having two FCS schools on their 2013 schedule means that the Yellow Jackets will need to win seven games to qualify for a post-season bowl game.

On Oct. 12, the Yellow Jackets travel to face the BYU Cougars. The game is the second in a home-and-home series that started on Oct. 27, 2012 in Atlanta. The two schools were originally slated to play four games, but Tech reduced it to two games earlier this year.

After hosting Alabama A&M on Nov. 23, Georgia Tech will welcome in-state rival Georgia to Bobby Dodd Stadium on Nov. 30.

In ACC play, Georgia Tech is tentatively slated to host Clemson, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech and travel to face Duke, Miami, and Virginia. The Jackets will also play new ACC member Pittsburgh and an Atlantic Division team to be determined.
