Alabama will welcome Georgia State to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 5, 2013. The Crimson Tide will pay the Panthers a $700,000 guarantee.
The game will be the second meeting between the two schools. GSU played at Alabama in their inaugural season back in 2010 and fell to the Tide 63-7.
GSU is the third game scheduled for Alabama in 2013. The Crimson Tide open the season on Aug. 31 against Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta. Bama later hosts Chattanooga of the FCS on Nov. 23.
Georgia State also announced on Wednesday that they will travel to Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks in 2015. An exact date for that game is to be announced (update: it’s Sept. 19).
The game against the Panthers completes Oregon’s 2015 non-conference schedule. The Ducks open the season at home on Sept. 5 vs. Eastern Washington and then travel to Michigan State on Sept. 12.
Earlier today, it was announced that Georgia State would travel to West Virginia in 2013 and would face Air Force in a home-and-home series in 2014 and 2016.
Georgia State is transitioning to the FBS and will join the Sun Belt Conference on July 1, 2013. They will be eligible for postseason play and the Sun Belt Conference football championship beginning with the 2014 season.
