The Florida Gators and the USF Bulls have scheduled a three-game football series for 2022, 2023, and 2025, both schools announced on Tuesday.
In the first game of the series, Florida will host USF at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville on Sept. 17, 2022. The Gators will then travel to face the Bulls at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Sept. 9, 2023.
The third and final game of the series will be played in Gainesville on Sept. 6, 2025.
In their first and only meeting on the gridiron back in 2010, Florida defeated USF 38-14 in Gainesville.
“This is a unique scheduling opportunity that allows us to get three games against a quality FBS opponent, with two at home and one in a great venue in Tampa,” Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin said. “A lot of Gator fans will have the opportunity to attend that game and we are looking forward to being able to play a regular-season game in central Florida.”
USF is the second scheduled non-conference opponent for the Florida Gators for the 2022, 2023, and 2025 season. UF also plays in-state rival Florida State annually.
“We are very excited for our program and our fans to add three games against the University of Florida to our schedule,” USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan said. “I would like to thank Coach Strong for his desire to play a challenging non-conference schedule and the leadership at Florida for their partnership in making this happen. We are committed to scheduling opponents that our fans are excited to see the Bulls compete against and Florida certainly ranks very high on that list.”
In order to schedule the three-game series with Florida, USF had to move two previously scheduled non-conference games.
A Sept. 17, 2022 home game against Florida Atlantic will be moved to a future season to be announced. Additionally, a home game with San Jose State in 2023 has been pushed back one week from Sept. 9 to Sept. 16.
