College football’s Week 5 rankings for the 2026 season delivered another shake‑up, headlined by Florida’s dramatic rise following its 52–28 win over then‑No. 4 Ole Miss in Gainesville.
The Gators vaulted 13 spots in the AP Poll and climbed 14 places in the Coaches Poll to No. 8, riding the momentum of a dominant performance against the Rebels. The victory pushed Florida to 4–0 and secured the program’s first appearance in the AP Top 10 since Sept. 26, 2021.
Texas (4–0) held firm at No. 1 in both major polls after edging then‑No. 14 Tennessee, 20–17, in Knoxville. Georgia and Notre Dame remained steady at Nos. 2 and 3, keeping the top of the rankings unchanged.
UCLA posted the week’s biggest leap in the AP Poll, soaring 14 spots from unranked to No. 23 after dismantling Maryland on the road, 54–3. Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, and Boise State also made notable climbs, jumping eight, 11, and nine places, respectively.
Penn State endured the week’s harshest drop, falling from No. 13 to unranked after a home loss to Wisconsin — the Nittany Lions’ first setback of the season.
Michigan, Louisville, and Texas A&M also slipped out of the AP Poll following weekend losses.
