The Florida State Seminoles have added the Jacksonville State Gamecocks to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Thursday.
Florida State will host Jacksonville State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020. The game will mark the third overall meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Jacksonville State is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Gamecocks have won one national championship and 22 conference championship in their history.
Jacksonville State will serve as Florida State’s lone non-conference game this season. Due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the ACC revised their schedule to 10 conference games and only one home non-conference game.
Florida State is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 12 at home in Tallahassee against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Other home opponents include North Carolina, Pitt, Clemson, and Virginia.
The Seminoles will travel to take on Miami (FL), Notre Dame, Louisville, NC State, and Duke.
Jacksonville State’s conference schedule has been postponed, but the Gamecocks are going to play a limited non-conference schedule this fall. Other opponents currently scheduled include North Alabama (Oct. 17) and FIU (date TBA), both on the road.
“Since learning that we wouldn’t have the ability to play our conference games in the fall, we have been working non-stop to put together the best non-conference schedule possible for our players, coaches and fans,” JSU Athletics Director Greg Seitz said. “This is a great opportunity for our program to compete against one of the nation’s top programs, and I want to thank Florida State for giving us the opportunity to be a part of its 2020 schedule.”
