The Eastern Michigan Eagles have added the Monmouth Hawks and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers to their future football schedules, the school announced on Tuesday.

Eastern Michigan will host Monmouth at Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018. The game will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Monmouth is a member of the Big South Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Hawks are 4-5 (0-4) so far this season following a 5-6 (3-3) campaign in 2015.

Eastern Michigan and Coastal Carolina will meet for the first time on the gridiron in a home-and-home series in 2019 and 2020. EMU will travel to face CCU at Brooks Stadium in Conway on Aug. 31, 2019 and will then host the Chanticleers in Ypsilanti on Sept. 12, 2020.

Coastal Carolina, currently an FCS Independent, will move up to the Football Bowl Subdivision next season and will compete in the Sun Belt Conference.

The addition of games against Monmouth and Coastal Carolina completes Eastern Michigan’s non-conference schedule through the 2020 season.

“Our goal was to bring excitement to ‘The Factory’ and to create opportunities for our fans to travel with us to some destination locations on the road,” said EMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Heather Lyke. “We must also balance our schedule with games at ‘Power Five’ schools and we are excited to face three Big Ten opponents on the road. Moreover, we are thrilled to welcome our first SEC opponent to Ypsilanti in 2019, when we begin a home-and-home series with Kentucky.”
