The Eastern Michigan Eagles and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks have scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, according to EMU’s 2022 football media guide.
In the first game of the series, Eastern Michigan will travel to face Jacksonville State at JSU Stadium in Jacksonville, Ala., on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023. The Eagles will host the Gamecocks at Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, Mich., the following season on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, which will conclude the series.
The 2023 Eastern Michigan-Jacksonville State contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two teams on the gridiron.
Jacksonville State is currently a member of the ASUN Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Gamecocks are moving up to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) next season and will officially join Conference USA on July 1, 2023.
With the addition of Jacksonville State, Eastern Michigan has completed its non-conference schedule for both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The 2023 slate for the Eagles also includes home games against Howard on Sept. 2 and UMass on Sept. 16 and a road tilt at Minnesota on Sept. 9.
In 2024, Eastern Michigan is also slated to play at UMass on Aug. 31 and at Washington on Sept. 7 before hosting Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sept. 21.
Jacksonville State’s 2023 non-conference schedule currently includes a road contest at South Carolina on Nov. 4. Eastern Michigan is the first known opponent for the Gamecocks for the 2024 season.
