The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers have added the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs to their 2022 football schedule, CCU’s official website indicates.
Coastal Carolina will host Gardner-Webb at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C., on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022. The game will mark the 15th overall meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Coastal Carolina and Gardner-Webb first met on the gridiron in 2003 in Conway. In their most recent matchup in 2016, the Chanticleers defeated the Runnin’ Bulldogs 17-7 in Boiling Springs, N.C. It was CCU’s fifth consecutive victory in the series and extended their overall lead to 12-2.
Gardner-Webb is a member of the Big South Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Runnin’ Bulldogs are 2-0 so far during the spring 2021 season.
Coastal Carolina now has three non-conference opponents set for their schedule in 2022. The Chanticleers are scheduled to open the season at home against Army on Sept. 3 and will also host Buffalo on Sept. 17.
In Sun Belt Conference action in 2022, Coastal Carolina is scheduled to host Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, South Alabama, and Louisiana and travel to Troy, Georgia State, ULM, and Texas State.
Coastal Carolina is the second known non-conference opponent for Gardner-Webb’s 2022 football schedule. The Runnin’ Bulldogs are also scheduled to play at Liberty on Oct. 15 that season.
